Como nasceuHow it started

Ele nasceu para o Mission Club, um grupo de estudantes aqui da missão que querem ser missionários. O objetivo do clube é formar novos líderes missionários, e cada encontro tem uma reflexão.

It was made for Mission Club, a group of students here at the mission who want to become missionaries. The club exists to train new mission leaders, and every meeting has a short talk.

Eu queria que a reunião já começasse com todos conectados: rindo, interagindo, à vontade e prestando atenção. Então, em vez de abrir com uma fala, abri com um jogo. A tela mostra vários objetos por alguns segundos, apaga, e quando volta alguma coisa sumiu. Parece fácil, até a primeira rodada.

I wanted the meeting to start with everyone connected: laughing, joining in, relaxed and paying attention. So instead of opening with a talk, I opened with a game. The screen shows several objects for a few seconds, goes dark, and when it comes back something is gone. It looks easy, until the first round.

É aí que vem a lição. É difícil perceber quando algo falta, quando alguma coisa não está no lugar. Com as pessoas é igual: alguém passa a semana inteira do nosso lado sem ser notado. Jesus percebia quem a multidão não via.

That is where the lesson comes in. It is hard to notice when something is missing, when something is out of place. People are the same: someone can spend a whole week next to us without being noticed. Jesus saw the people the crowd did not see.

O jogo virou a porta de entrada para a reflexão sobre ter essa sensibilidade com as pessoas. Os alunos gostaram muito, e quando a conversa começou, eles já estavam abertos para ouvir.

The game became the doorway into the talk about having that kind of sensitivity toward people. The students loved it, and by the time the conversation started, they were already open to listen.
